Junior Infants travelled to Wooly Wards Farm in north Dublin for their School Tour. Everyone enjoyed the day and had great fun. There were many activities and things to see and do; the day started with a play performed by the helpers at Wooly Wards Farm, that was followed by horse-riding, art and craft, a train ride, looking at different animals and playing in the play area.

PE: Great Gymnastics!
This week in PE we have been enjoying doing lots of gymnastics. We have started to work with apparatus, such as the horse, mats, and benches. We set up five stations that will maximise the time spent travelling around, in and out of hoops, travelling along, across and around mats and benches, balancing using mats. This has helped us develop good body tension and posture through
gymnastic positions and movements.

Book Week 2013
It was a very special week in Junior Infants as Book Week was taking place, there were many activities and fun tasks to do including Book Swap, dress up day and lunchtime readings. On Wednesday, The Wolfman (Liam Farrell) came to the school and was eager to remind teachers that he wouldn't be a bad wolf! He was very funny and told great stories to the children who played their part very well by helping Wolfman with parts of the stories! Dress Up Day was on Friday and lots of children in Junior Infants came in with interesting costumes! We also read some books, everyone read the Sunny Street story 'Say Cheese' and a number of children brought in their own books for show and tell!

January News!
We have been settling back into school after the Christmas break. Unfortunately there has been a lot of children feeling poorly and they have been unable to come to school some days. However Junior Infants are still very busy, we have started our phonics book which enables us to practice our letter formation and sounds. In Art, we have started doing clay; the pupils enjoyed the first activity on Monday and came up with some excellent creations!

History Day fun
Junior Infants had a great day of fun on Wednesday, it was History Day and many children brought in an artifact which made Show and Tell very interesting! We also studied the difference between things that are old and new; pictures and photographs of cars, phones, planes and toys were all looked at. We also saw a short video of the Wright brothers, who first made an plane that was able to fly. Then we went to the Halla where Ms Deery's 6th Class had a arranged lots of old style games for us to play; this was very special. Finally we met Angela Lodge who used to teach in our school, she spoke about what school was like fifty years ago and many children asked her questions.
