History Day fun
Junior Infants had a great day of fun on Wednesday, it was History Day and many children brought in an artifact which made Show and Tell very interesting! We also studied the difference between things that are old and new; pictures and photographs of cars, phones, planes and toys were all looked at. We also saw a short video of the Wright brothers, who first made an plane that was able to fly. Then we went to the Halla where Ms Deery's 6th Class had a arranged lots of old style games for us to play; this was very special. Finally we met Angela Lodge who used to teach in our school, she spoke about what school was like fifty years ago and many children asked her questions.

Healthy eating in Junior Infants!
We have been encouraging all of the children in Junior Infants to bring in some delicious fruit in their lunch boxes and eat it during the day. So far the response has been very good; bananas, mandarins, apples, pears are always seen in Mr. Fahey's class and also some exotic fruits like melon and kiwi are being eaten daily! Fruit gives us long lasting energy, better skin and teeth and stronger bones. Lets keep this up!

Maths is fun & best behaviour award!
Having spent a week on Matching we started to learn all about doing Sets in Maths. We worked in small groups and everyone seemed to enjoy sorting the different colour cubes and arranging them. We now have a Maths area so we can practice more during our activity time or if we are finished our maths earlier than others.
Last week our class won the Best Behaviour award at the school Assembly, we hope to win this award again very soon!

First week in school!
We have almost completed our first full week in school; there has been lots of fun and almost no tears whatsoever! We have started most days with some Circle Time and play time; this has given everyone the chance to get to know each other's name and to make new friends. We have played games like 'Hedgehog' and 'How do you do' which I think most have enjoyed. The weather was so hot we didn't get to do PE for long, but this has meant that we are able to go outside each day for yard time and play amongst children from Ms. Murphy's class! We look forward to the next weeks and months ahead; new subjects, new games and new friends will all be encountered!
Note: PE days for Mr. Fahey's Junior Infants are on Tuesdays and Fridays.
